Firstly, a bit on sportsmanship, which we reckon is a really big deal. At no stage will any form of poor sportsmanship towards teams or officials be tolerated.
No swearing whatsoever. No barging or pushing unless the challenge is bullrush!
We will instantly disqualify any team (both adult and child) if just one member displays unsporting behaviour towards other teams and officials.
No second chances.
WINNING XRACE
Any team could win XRACE. First and foremost, XRACE is fun for the free-spirited family. But for those teams that also enjoy sportsmanship and competition, XRACE is a genuine race with winners and losers.
Each XRACE is carefully crafted to make sure that any team of any combination could win. It takes a lot more than just being the fastest and the fittest – to win XRACE, a sprinkling of luck and a good strategy go a long way.
That's what makes XRACE so much fun – every team can be in it to win it.
13-YEAR-OLDS.
All children must be 12 years of age at the first event of the season – 15 February, 2014. If the child turns 13 after this date, they are eligible to enter XRACE and will compete in the senior division.
REGIONAL CHAMPION
Teams will compete to be XRACE regional champions at every single XRACE around the country. XRACE uses the latest event timing technology – transponders attached to your shoes – just like the big city marathons.
If, for example, your team is challenging others at XRACE Auckland, every single team races each other for the coveted title of XRACE champions of Auckland.
There is only one team that can win this coveted title – the fastest – regardless of age or whether the team is made up of a boy or a girl.
Last summer, girls beat the boys in seven of the 12 regional events and our national champion was an eight-year-old girl from Gisborne.
REGIONAL AGE-GROUP CHAMPION
At each XRACE, we will also be holding an age-group race. Because we use transponder timing, we know who is the fastest seven-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl.
Here are the age groups at your local XRACE.
-
7-year-old boys. 7-year-old girls.
-
8-year-old boys. 8-year-old girls.
-
9-year-old boys. 9-year-old girls.
-
10-year-old boys. 10-year-old girls.
-
11-year-old boys. 11-year-old girls.
-
Senior boys. Senior girls.
Your age-group is determined by your age on race day.
