The Rotorua Quarter Ironman is a fantastic entry-level distance event to test your skills. The distances are not the same as an Olympic distance triathlon. The swim is shorter, the cycle is slightly longer and the run is 10.5 km.
The distances are a 1000m swim, 45 km cycle and a 10.5 km run. The event is open to both individuals and teams.
The Quarter Ironman starts at the same time as the Half Ironman, Men go first at 6:25 a.m. followed by women and teams together at 6:30 a.m.
The swim course is the same as the Half Ironman except swimmers complete one lap only and then exit the water.
The bike and run course is similar to the Half Ironman. See the maps below. There are no age stations on the bike course and two aid stations on the run.
Race packet collection is Friday afternoon together with the Half Ironman. Earlybird entry is $69 and that includes one ticket to the prizegiving. All competitors receive a quality finisher medal. Regular entry is $89.
